For Mission One rupee Project,the Social work Department students of KMM College of Arts and Science, Thrikkakara conducted DONATE ONE RUPEE MISSION.The main objective of the project was to build and develop a Housing colony for disabled people in the district of Wayanad who are unemployed and homeless .
For this goal three youngsters from Kannur; Mr Shalin, Mr. Reneesh and Mr. Vijin took initiative and planned an all India tour, as a strategy for fundraising. They traveled by bicycle which was eco friendly.It was a handcrafted custom built medium sized caravan, which was powered with solar panels on the top of the vehicle. Instead of an engine two cycles with hydraulic pedals were attached. They had all the necessary facilities in that caravan. Around two years back ,they started this Project. They run project campaigns in seven districts and the construction of the houses are progressing.
The Social work Department has intimated the details of this mission with the college authorities and conducted a fund collection campaign on 26/09/2 and 27/09/2023.All the students and faculty members participated and supported the event. On 10/10/2023 funds were transferred to one-rupee brothers by the Principal, Prof.V U Nooruddin at 11:00 am in the college. The principal gave the Presidential address and Social Work Department HOD, Shemi.M. A gave felicitation. The mission members shared their experiences during the mission and the programme concluded at 12.30 pm.
